St James Plantation Members Course

I played my third round of the year today. The conditions were cool only 58 but with almost no breeze.

I played the back nine of the Irwin course and the Cate Nine from the white tees at St James Plantation Members course which are about 5800 yards.

The course is still in winter conditions but the greens were in good shape. Today I shot a 95 with 37 putts.

On the positive side I had three pars and 9 bogeys , I hit 5 greens in regulation and had 2 sand saves.

On the bad side I had 4 three putts and 2 triple bogeys.

South Harbour Golf Links

We (Fran and Wayne) played with our wives (Susan and Trish) on Saturday afternoon at a little par three called South Harbour Golf Links.

My wife is just retaking up the game after several years of not playing.

It was cold 60 and windy 15-20 MPH gust to 30 so by the time we were finished we needed something to warm us up and we chose Mexican food.

South Harbour is a short par 3 course 1951 from the Blue tees and 1392 from the White Tees.

We played from the blues and our wives played from the whites.

I shot a 76 with 4 pars, 7 bogeys and 2 triple bogeys.
Trish shot an 77 with 3 pars and 7 bogeys.
Wayne shot an 82 with 8 bogeys and 2 triple bogeys.
Susan shot a 92 with 7 bogeys and 9 triple bogeys.

First round 2006 - Devils Ridge

Today I played my first round of 2006 at Devils Ridge in Holly Springs. We played from the Blue Tees at a distance of 6500 yards.

The conditions were cool (60) and windy (20-30 MPH) but I was golfing and not at work so everything was good.

The course is still in winter conditions with the fairways and greens more brown than green so we got a lot of roll and the greens would not hold anything.

I shot a 102 overall which is pretty good for me since I have not played since November.

I hit 5 fairways and made 3 GIR's. What really killed me was 40 putts a 4 putt and three 3 putts pushed over my goal of staying under 100 every round.

I expect to play twice this coming weekend at St James Plantation in Southport, NC.
